Yahoo, MySpace and Google Team Up!
With Yahoo trying to kick a big player off thier back - Microsoft’s take over, they decided to make some big player friends of thier own. On March 25, Yahoo, the largest online site decided to play hard ball and team up with giant Google and the giant social network - MySpace. By doing this, the 3 also created and formed the OpenSocial Foundation. OpenSocial Foundation is a not-for-profit, which is scheduled to go live within 90 days. They will be trying to dedicate and to preserving open source programming codes, that will allow Web developers to build applications that work across most all major web sites. When Google started the OpenSocial platform in October, they where hoping to solve a few problems. One of thier major problems was the concerned that developers had. Facebook’s - May decision to open up its site to other applications from most all third parties had sent thousands of developers to create programs for the social networking site. This huge response from Facebook’s users of the new programs help to encouraged other social networks to follow. Soon after all this other sites where allowing outsiders to create programs for them to be used on the their sites.
